1. Papers of Dr. Manmohan Singh
Former Prime Minister of India and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha)
Dr. Manmohan Singh himself has donated soft copies of his own speeches, convocation addresses, interviews, articles, photographs, albums, etc. relating to economic policies, national and international issues in several instalments. The papers covering the period 1957-2014 are in Hindi and English.
2. Papers of Jairam Ramesh
Economist, Parliamentarian and former Cabinet Minister
Shri Jairam Ramesh has himself donated his papers to the NMML. The papers comprise 102 files relating to 2009-2014. These include correspondence carried out by him as Minister of Rural Development, and Minister of State (I/C), Environment and Forest with Prime Minister, President, Vice-President, Chief Ministers, Cabinet Ministers and others regarding the implementation and status of various central rural development programmes of the Government of India. The papers also include his speeches, project reports, etc. The papers are in English and Hindi.
3. Papers of Prof. M.G.K. Menon
Physicist and Scientist
Prof. M.G.K. Menon has himself donated his papers to the NMML in January 2016. These comprise approximately 300 files relating to 1958 – 2015. The papers include his correspondence with Indira Gandhi, Atal Behari Vajpayee, I.K. Gujral, Manmohan Singh, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and others regarding development in science and technology in India. The subject files relate to his activities and contribution in various scientific organizations such as the National Academy of Science, Indian Statistical Institute and Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi. The bulk of the papers comprise mainly of scientific papers, articles, lectures, speeches, talks and addresses by Prof. M.G.K. Menon. The papers are in English.
4. Papers of George Fernandes
Socialist Leader, former Minister of Defence
The papers of George Fernandes, donated by his wife Mrs. Leela Kabir Fernandes, consist of approximately 100 files relating to 1984-2010. The papers contain his correspondence with Union Ministers and other dignitaries such as Dr. Manmohan Singh, A.K. Antony, Shivraj V. Patil, Arjun Singh, Pranab Mukherjee and others. The subject files relate to Samata Party, Indian Culture Study Association, Caskets/Coffins, and letters to Chief Ministers. Besides, press clippings, printed material and other papers also form a part of the collection. The papers are in English, Hindi and Urdu.
5. Papers of Mohan Dharia
Parliamentarian, Social Worker, Lawyer and Environmentalist
The third instalment of Mohan Dharia papers donated by his wife Smt. Shashikala Dharia comprises 115 files relating to 1947, 1966-91. The papers contain correspondence with Indria Gandhi, K. Kamraj, Shankar Dayal Sharma, Swaran Singh, Y.B. Chavan, Ramlal Parikh, Ramkrishna Bajaj and others regarding the matters of AICC, general elections, Third Pay Commission, and State Laws. The subject files relate to Indian National Congress, Panchayati Raj, Trade Union, Planning Commission, etc. Besides, his writings, speeches, press clippings and printed material also form part of the collection. The papers are in English, Hindi and Bengali.
6. Papers of Prof. Madhav Gadgil
Madhav Gadgil papers, donated by Prof. Madhav Gadgil himself, have been collected from Pune in February 2016. This is a large collection comprising approximately 2000 files relating to 1985 – 2010. These comprise files relating to Biodiversity in Educational Curricula, Biosphere Reserves, Community Forest Resources, Gundia Hydel Project, Intellectual Property Rights, Karnataka Environmental Planning, etc. Besides, articles, reports, theses, lecture notes and booklets on environmental activism, ecology, wasteland management, biodiversity, global environmental facility and other related fields also form part of the collection. The papers are in English, Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam and Kannada.
7. Papers of Syud Hossain
Eminent Journalist and First Indian Ambassador to Egypt
The second instalment of Syud Hossain papers, donated by Prof. Ismat Mehdi, comprises 6 folders relating to 1907-1919. These contain correspondence with Jawaharlal Nehru, Motilal Nehru, Sri Prakasa, M.A. Ansari, M.A. Jinnah, Annie Besant, Sarojini Naidu, Tej Bahadur Sapru, Syed Mahmud and others relating to the publication of The Independent, requests for articles, other journalistic activities and personal matters. The papers are in English and Urdu.
8. Papers of M.L. Sondhi
Diplomat and Member of Parliament
The papers of M.L. Sondhi, donated by his wife Mrs. Madhuri Sondhi, comprise 26 files relating to 1961-2003. These contain correspondence with Indira Gandhi, A.B. Vajpayee, Rajiv Gandhi, L.K. Advani, Farooq Abdullah, P.V. Narasimha Rao and others. Files in the collection relate to Bharatiya Janata Party, Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Indian Council for Social Science and Research, Jawaharlal Nehru University, etc. The papers are in Hindi, English and Urdu.
9. Papers of K.G. Saiyidain
Educationist and Urdu Writer
The papers of K.G. Saiyidain have been donated by Dr. Syeda Hameed relating to 1947-1984. The collection includes correspondence with Zakir Hussain, Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, Tara Chand, H.N. Kunzru and others relating to educational policy and its promotion. The papers also comprise his articles, lectures, speeches and radio talks. In addition press clippings, printed material, diaries and reports also form part of the collection. The papers are in English and German.
10. Papers of Anand Kumar
Professor of Sociology (retired), JNU, and founder – member, Aam Aadmi Party
Prof. Anand Kumar has himself donated his own papers to the NMML comprising approximately 40 files relating to 1978-2014. The papers contain correspondence with Ramakrishna Hedge, V.M. Tarkunde, Soli Sorabji, Rahul Bajaj and others relating to J.P. Foundation. Besides, the collection also includes files relating to Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Birth Centenary, Janata Party, Indo-Bhutan relations, Aam Aadmi Party, etc. Apart from these, articles by others, press clippings and printed material also form part of the collection. The papers are in Hindi, English, Odia and Malayalam.
11. Papers of Unnayan Group
Social action group, Kolkata
The papers of Unnayan Group, consisting of approximately 2500 files, books and printed material, maps, designs, blue prints of projects and folk paintings have been donated in three instalments by Shri Jai Sen, the Founder-Director of the Unnayan Group. The papers comprising files and documents broadly contain Unnayan’s Project files and its correspondence files with a wide range of organizations and individuals. In addition it deals with two sub collections namely the National Campaign for Housing Rights (NCHR), and the Chhinnumul Sramajibi Adhikar Samiti (CSAS). The papers, covering the period 1977-2008, are in English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali and Marathi.
12. Papers of Natarang Pratishthan, Delhi
Institute for promoting drama, theatre and Indian culture
Smt. Rashmi Vajpayee, Director of Natarang Pratishthan has donated a collection of the material of Natarang Pratishthan mainly containing books and printed material relating to theatre, dance, drama, Indian culture, social issues, biographical and literary books, and a number of bound volumes of periodicals, journals, bulletins magazines, play scripts, brochures, and press clippings, etc. relating to the activities of various individuals and organizations associated with theatre, dance and fine arts. The papers, covering the period 1960-2011 (with gaps), are in Hindi, English and vernacular languages.
13. Papers of ‘Mehrauli Group of Action India and Sadbhavana Trust’
Public charitable trust and social welfare group
An institutional collection of ‘Mehrauli Group of Action India and Sadbhavana Trust’ consisting of approximately 50 files has been donated by Ms. Primila Lewis and Ms. Renuka Misra. The papers contain files generated during the course of their work for the welfare of women and children in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir. These files relate to support groups of Sadbhavana Trust, profiles of children and households prepared by Human Aid Society, Baramulla, survey reports, minutes, accounts papers, correspondence with NGOs outside J&K., and various activities of the Trust. Besides, the collection also contains occasional papers on Human Rights, press clippings on situation of children in Jammu and Kashmir, printed reports entitled “Textbook Regimes a feminist critique of nation and identity”, “Impact of Conflict Situation on Women and Children in Kashmir”, “Kiran - A Report year 2004”, “Earthquake Relief Work in Kashmir”, “Dastkar Kashmir Report”, and other related documents. The papers covering the period 1997-2010 are in English.
14. Papers of Upendranath ‘Ashk’

The papers of Upendranath ‘Ashk’, consisting of approximately 1500 files have been donated by his son, Shri Neelabh. The papers comprise letters exchanged by Upendranath ‘Ashk’ with his contemporary writers and poets, such as Banarasi Das Chaturvedi, Bhishm Sahani, Bhavani Prasad Mishra, Hans Raj Rehbar, Jainendra Kumar Jain, Mohan Rakesh, Nemi Chandra Jain, Namvar Singh, and others relating to their literary activities and personal matters. The collection also contains manuscripts of his literary works, articles, reviews and interviews, etc. The papers, covering the period 1956-1988 are in Hindi, Urdu and English.
15. Papers of Amrita Rangasami
Ms. Amrita Rangasami has donated a collection of her papers comprising approximately 200 files and printed material. The collection contains correspondence regarding relief measures, nutrition, disaster management and publication of research papers, etc. The papers include writings by her and by others on economy, finance, disaster and other management issues. The papers covering the period 1902, 1940-2010 (with gaps) are in English, Hindi and Russian.
16. Papers of D.D. Kosambi
Historian and Mathematician
The collection of D.D. Kosambi comprising approximately 90 files/notebooks has been donated by his daughter, Prof. Meera Kosambi. The papers comprise correspondence exchanged with H.V. Tilak, R.D. Sathe, J.B. Marshall, Annarao Kulkarni, Kanchan Kumari, J.P. Thapliyal, C.D. Deshmukh, Y.G. Naik, B.N. Ganguli and others. The collection also includes articles, notes/diaries written by him on mathematics, ancient Indian history, articles by others, and printed material, etc. The papers, covering the period 1926-1965, are in English, Hindi and Sanskrit.
17. Papers of Primila Lewis
Social worker and freelance writer
Mrs. Primila Lewis has donated her papers comprising the daily record written by her during her detention in Ambala and Hissar Central Jails under MISA during the emergency and contains detailed account of her arrest, life in jail, prisoners’ struggle, letters to family members and friends, reflections on her reading and thoughts, etc. Besides, appeals, complaints and writ petition against her detention, press clippings and printed material also form part of the collection. The papers, covering the period 1970-1986, are in English and Hindi.
18. Papers of J.M. Jussawalla
The papers of J.M. Jussawalla, consisting of 31 files, books and photographs, have been donated by his son, Mr. Adil Jussawalla. The papers contain letters received by him from Earle E. Liederman, Bernard MacFodden, and Tyrrell’s Hygienic Institute, New York. The subject files relate to the Society of Servants of God, Dhanwantri and other awards presented to him. Besides, the collection also contains incomplete manuscripts and notes for his books, articles, lectures, notebooks containing stray thoughts in solitude and astrological predictions from horoscopes, etc. The papers, covering the period 1923-1995, are in English, Gujarati, Marathi and Malayalam. The collection also includes papers and correspondence received by Adil Jussawalla from various painters and sculptors. Besides, articles by him on his father and mother, and booklets etc. also form part of the collection. These relate to the years 1961-2012.
19. Papers of Arun Bose
The papers of Prof. Arun Bose, consisting of approximately 100 files, have been donated by his nephew, Mr. Ranjan Palit. The papers contain correspondence exchanged by Arun Bose with renowned economist Piero Sraffa and others regarding academic activities. The bulk of the collection contains manuscripts, notes and background material of his research work, drafts of his books and writings. Besides, the papers also contain lectures, articles, notes, seminar and working papers by him, articles by others and printed material. Correspondence of his father, F.N. Bose also form part of the collection. The papers, covering the period 1937-2006, are in English and Bengali.

The papers of Mr. & Mrs. M.R.A. Baig, donated by Mrs. Amita Baig, comprise correspondence with M.K. Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sarojini Naidu, Rabindranth Tagore and others relating to 1903-1966.
